After the success of the first SkyTech event in April of this year, the organisers are delighted to announce the launch of SkyTech 2016, organised in collaboration with SUAS Global, RUSTA and Flightpath Consulting, which will take place on the 27th & 28th January 2016 at the Business Design Centre, London.

SkyTech 2016 is a two-day tradeshow dedicated to advancing the global commercial UAV industry. SkyTech aims to serve as a platform to encourage growth, further education and advance safety within this emerging market. Now in its second edition SkyTech is more than doubling in size and will feature 70 exhibitors, 50 speakers and over 3000 attendees.

SkyTech 2016 will provide information, connections and marketing solutions through an exhibition, conferences, workshops, product launches, live demonstrations and networking events. SkyTech is also a media platform and press day for the UAV industry across the UK, Europe and worldwide.

SkyTech will be attended by experts from across the UAV industry, bringing together manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, government, academia, investors, trade associations and regulatory bodies. Workshops

SkyTech’s breakout workshops are must-attend sessions for new and prospective UAV users. UAV Industry Conference

SkyTech’s main conference will accommodate 500 delegates. Over the course of two days senior level speakers will present on matters of regulation, safety, investment, funding support, insurance, data protection, privacy and liability across the UK and globally. Industry leaders will showcase next generation technology and services through dedicated product launch sessions, whilst leading academics will provide the latest updates on industry research.

The Survey Industry Conference

SkyTech will also feature a two day conference dedicated to the rapidly expanding UAV survey industry. This conference will showcase the range of survey applications suited to UAV technology through a combination of academic, industry and end user led case study sessions. Day one will focus upon innovative uses for UAVs within the fields of agriculture and the environment, whilst day two will consider the role of UAVs for the oil & gas, mining, utilities, infrastructure and construction industries.

Applications Conference

SkyTech’s applications conference will take place on the second day of the event. Manufacturers, solution providers and end users will present the latest advances and applications for UAVs within the fields of policing, search and rescue, fire service, security, real estate, media and broadcasting.

Drone Industry Launches Technology & Innovation Awards

Unmanned Air Systems Technology & Innovation AwardsThe drone industry has announced the launch of the Unmanned Air Systems Technology & Innovation Awards. With the unmanned aviation industry developing at such a great pace the awards have been established to recognize innovation, excellence and growth across the industry. The awards are open to all organisations involved in the unmanned aviation industry, with entries welcomed from across the globe. The awards will honour those organisations which have pushed at the boundaries of unmanned aviation, serving as an endorsement of determination, hard work and a celebration of success.

The awards are now open for submissions, with the final closing date for entries set as the 20th December 2015.

Entries will be analysed by a select panel of judges. Winners will be announced during a ceremony hosted at SkyTech 2016 on 27th January.

Industry Leaders to Speak at London Drone Conference

The SkyTech 2016 UAS conference & exhibition has announced its speaker line-up for January’s event. International experts will consider key developments from across the unmanned aviation industry, alongside discussion of UAS applications for a range of business markets.

An extensive conference programme will see 40 speakers present across three conferences. Speakers include representatives from UNIFLY, Pix4D, Ampyx Power, Flyability, NVIDIA, Crossrail, BioCarbon Engineering, McGill University, AECOM, UK Trade & Investment, Blue Bear Systems, Historic England and SGS Hart Aviation.

Olivier Küng, Co-founder and Project Director at Pix4D will discuss the Mapping Nepal Project which saw Pix4D and other technology leaders from around the world partner with Kathmandu Living Labs (KLL) and Kathmandu University (KU) for a week-long UAV training mission. Küng will consider how up-to-date maps and models produced from drone-acquired imagery and photogrammetry software can provide critical information for disaster evaluation and reconstruction.

Flyability will present Gimball, the first collision-tolerant drone for the inspection and exploration of inaccessible places. With current drone platforms limited to operating in wide open spaces, far from structures & people, Flyability will discuss how Gimball is pushing at the boundaries of such limitations performing missions indoors and even inside vessels, tunnels and galleries for the Energy, Oil & Gas, Transportation and Water Management industries.

William Reddaway, Innovation & Reporting Consultant at Crossrail will discuss Crossrail’s award winning innovation programme “Innovate18” which has funded the investigation and trial of using UAVs in a construction and engineering project. Reddaway will consider the use of UAVs in major infrastructure projects alongside sharing how Crossrail plan to use drones in the future.

Eddie Seymour, European Technical Director at NVIDIA will present the NVIDIA® Jetson TX1: The embedded platform with machine learning for a new generation of intelligent, autonomous UAVs. The Jetson TX1 addresses the challenge of creating a new wave of millions of smart devices by incorporating capabilities such as machine learning, computer vision, navigation and more. Jetson TX1 is also built into a Developer Kit, which enables hobbyists and professionals to develop and test highly advanced autonomous UAVs and makes it easy to transition from development to manufacturing and production.

SkyTech’s conferences will cover a broad spectrum of UAS developments and industry applications. SkyTech’s Industry Conference will consider investment trends, privacy, risk management and regulatory development across the UAS industry.
